Samudragupta did not annex the kingdom of Dakshinapath into his empire as he realised that it would be  difficult to rule Dakshinapath from northern India . the modes of transport was not well developed those times .

For the following reasons Samudragupta decide not to annex the kingdoms of Dakshinapatha:

1. Samudragupta defeated the twelve rulers of Dakshinapatha who ruled the kingdom of Dakshinapath, but later on, he restored the kingdom to its original rulers and permitted them to rule.

2. The means of transportation were outdated.

3. He restored the power of the rulers of Dakshinapatha because it was difficult for him to rule from his capital in North India as Dakshinapatha was far away from the capital.
