The Brahmins of Maharashtra refused to Put the Crown on the Revered Head of the Great Shivaji Maharaj on the Pretext that he was not from the Warrior (Kshatriya) Class.  As a result the Great Shiva Ji Maharaj had to get himself Crowned as “Chhatrapati” by the Brahmins of Kashi (Varanasi of today).
