Jacob was the son of Isaac and the grandson of Abraham
So, he was renamed "Israel" by God, Jacob is the forefather of the tribes of Israel (Jews),
He is one of whose descendants is Shylock.
Thus, Shylock's oath reminds the audience of his ethnicity
