Sir Stafford Cripps came to India during World War II to discuss with the nationalist leaders of the Indian contingent about the self governance in India through dominion status. It was the promise by the British rule that election will be held after the war. But the main aim of British government to send Sir Cripps in India was to assemble Indian cooperation and support entirely for the efforts of British rule against their opponents in World War II.
