Robert Clive had bribed Mir Jaffer but during initial part of the battle Mir Jaffer didn’t do his part of the bargain. When the battle started Clive’s army was heavily outnumbered. Soon after thr battle started there was a heavy rainstorm. British covered their gunpowder with tarpaulins but the Nawab didn’t do anything like that.
When the rain started to reduce, the mosted trusted general of the nawab Mir Madan Khan charged against the British assuming that their gun powder doesn’t work as it had rained. Bit unfortunately it did and British counters the forces of Mir Madan Khan with bullets and he gets mortally wonded.
Until this incident Nawab wouldn’t have left the tent. After this Mir Jaffer is called for and the plan is discussed. Mir Jaffer orders Clive to attack. Nawab by then started to retreat.
