Swami Vivekanand went to U.S.A. in order to attend the Parliament of World Religions which was to be held in Chicago in the year 1893. The idea of going to and attending the Parliament of World Religions was suggested to Swami Ji by one of his closest fellows named Alasinga Perumal.
When Swami Ji went to Madras with a mission to spread the message of Ramakrishna, he met Alasinga Perumal and later on they both became very close to each other and also Swami Ji referred to him as 'my dearest discipline'.
