Why did Tembu sit by his father’s body?

Tembu's father was more worried about Tembu than himself because Tembu was laying down in the hut. Since, Baldeo, Tembu's father fought with tiger bravely but at last, he got defeat and he died. Tembu came to his father's dead body and didn't leave him until the watchman came there to help. He remained sitting beside his father's dead body just to protect it from wild animals.
