Gentleman of Rio en Medio is a beautiful short story written by Juan AA Sedillo about Americans who wanted to purchase a land in Mexico. An old man by name Don Anselmo agreed to sell his house and land in to the Americans who wanted to reside there. Later, when the American started living in the house, they are distraught by the children of the village who continued to run and play on the land. So they had complained to Don Anselmo who claimed though the land was his, the trees belonged to the village people, most of them being his relatives for whom the trees were actually planted. The Americans, confronted with his unquestionable logic, purchase the trees from the rightful owners that is the descendants of Don Anselmo.

EXPLANATION:

The Americans had complained to the old man, who was also the storyteller that the children from the village were scampering about the land, placing 'fences around their play area', playing in the orchards, plucking fruits and flowers from the trees, laughing at the Americans whenever they were spoken to about what they were doing and that the children were speaking harshly to the Americans in Spanish which Americans did not understand. Hence, the American were not able to enjoy the property
