Why did the Articles of Confederation have to be replaced by the Constitution?
Answers
"They did not give Congress and the national government enough power. The need for a stronger Federal government eventually led to the Constitutional Convention in 1787. "
Answer:
The "Articles of Confederation" were the first constitution that US had. It was ratified on "March 1, 1781", they had to be replaced by the Constitution post the "Constitutional Convention in 1787". The constitution came to effect by replacing the articles in 1789, as the articles had a number of weaknesses as they gave states too much power, specifically more than the federal government.
These states went even to the extent of making their own money, did not enforce or follow federal laws or have any federal courts. Thus to overcome this, the articles were replaced by the constitution, created a stronger government, divided power between states and the central government and also established checks and balances in the form of legislative, executive and judiciary branches.
