Why did the Articles of Confederation need to be replaced?

It was ratified on "March 1, 1781", theyhad to be replaced by the Constitution post the "Constitutional Convention in 1787". The constitution came to effect byreplacing the articles in 1789, as thearticles had a number of weaknesses as they gave states too much power, specifically more than the federal government.

The Article of confederation lasted until March 4,1789, when they were replaced by the US constitution... In response to widespread antipathy toward a strong central Government, the article of confederation kept National Government weak and allowed for the states to be as independent as possible.. this is the reason.......hope it helps you..
