An excellent question and here's your answer

It's questionable whether the Aryans ever existed, but some archaeological evidence points to a nomadic Aryan tribe of warriors who came from the middle east and conquered India. There is also evidence that the Aryans weren't an external force, but rather a local tribe which managed to overpower other tribes and establish themselves as rulers. It's also questionable whether they created the caste system or whether it was a product of local populations. The only things we can tell with some degree of certainty is that Hindu castes originated between 1000 and 200 BC. During this time, first kingdoms and then later on, empires started forming, bringing with them the division of labor and social stratification. It's impossible to be certain, but inferring from other studies of social stratification, it's likely that the caste system evolved organically during this time, without intentionally being put into place by anyone.
