The astrologer left his village in order to save his life.

The astrologer did not leave his village out of choice. In fact, he had to escape from the village because of a crime that he had committed. Once when he was drunk he got into a quarrel with a man named Guru Nayak. During the quarrel he stabbed Guru Nayak in the chest with a knife and then pushed them into a well and left him to die there. After this incident the astrologer ran away from the village to save himself from being caught and punished for the act. It was only many years later that he got to know that Guru Nayak had survived the attack, but at that time of the incident he considered Guru dead and so left the village for good.
