The bishop was a kind man who believed that in order to serve God, we must serve human beings. He knew that the convict has become a hard man due to his circumstances and so he did not hand him over to the police. He hoped that this kindness will help the convict in trusting people again and eventually he will change himself. Forgiveness is a virtue that everyone does not have. It is good to forgive people and we should instil it in our personality. But to forgive a person again and again for the same mistake is not the right thing to do. This makes the person take you for granted and he does not change his behaviour but goes on misusing your kindness.
