The boys returned the horse to it's rightful owner because their conscience pricked them. When the owner meet the boys, the horse was with them. The owner recognised his horse. But he refused to believe that Mourad and good brother have stolen it. It's because the community which Mourad and his brother belong to is known for their honesty and truthfulness. The game of their honesty was widely known. So after listening to the owner's words they felt sorry for their did. They didn't want to do anything that may hurt their fame.
