when the British saw Haidar and Tipu sultan as ambitious and arrogant rulers, four battles were fought between the company and mysore . only in the 4th battle british were able to defeat the rulers in which Tipu sultan died and won the battle. mysore was now ruled over by the British and made a close relationship with mysore and forced the state into subsidiary alliance
