Post 1857, India came under the supremacy of the British government.

Britishers used Indian farmers for growing raw materials which were taken to Britain for making finished products.

They forced Indian farmers to grow commercial crops like tea, jute etc because these crops were highly demanded in their country.

So the Britishers exploited Indian farmers for the profit motives of Industrial Revolution in England.

  • East India Company wanted to collect maximum taxes to meet their military and at the administrative expenses .
  • they also want to gain maximum profit .
  • the company started using colrsive methods to produce goods which were in great demand in Europe .
  • the agricultural raw material was purchased at high low rates and send to England .
  • the finished goods were brought back to India and sold at high price to earn more profit .
