Why did the British merchants engage farmers from the countryside to produce textile for the market?

During the Proto-Industrialization in England in the 18th Century, merchants had taken over the whole industry while the farming in the industry was reduced. Merchants influenced them to work in the textile industry. 

The purpose of this was to:

(i) Fulfill the demand of the international market. 

(ii) Complete the local production needs of the industry. 

(iii) Provide employment to the unemployed peasants.

(iv) Increase the profit. 

(v) Introduce forms of machinery to the labor.

(vi) Move towards modern industrialization

In towns, urban crafts and trade guilds were powerful and they regulated competition and prices and restricted the entry of new people into the trade. Thus, the British merchant turned to the countryside and engaged farmers from the countryside to produce textile for the market.
