Britain is known for its royality and there is colour other than royal blue which gives a royal look. in India a plant known as indigo was used to colour clothes and it gave royal blue colour, so its demand increased in britain and britishers started forcing indian farmers to produce indigo in the late 18th century.

Answer:

Britain needed indigo because it produced a rich blue after dyeing the clothes. ... Britain wanted a new market to cultivate indigo to fullfill its demand in britain so it started cultivation in Indai, as indian climatic conditions were favourable for indigo cultivation.
