The British presumed that Rayanna was being instigated by Rani Kittur Chennamma and hence they moved Rani Chennamma from Bylahongla Prison to Kusugal Prison

Explanation:

  • Kittur Chennama was a militant Indian, a rebellion warrior, and the queen of the former princely state of Karnataka. She raised an expedition against the British East India Company in 1824 in breach of the lapse doctrine in an attempt to maintain Indian control over the region, however died in prison when she was captured by the British  during third war in which she was captured..
  • One of Britain's first females to rebel, she became an Indian Independence movement folk hero in Karnataka. Sangoli Rayanna was a commander-in - chief and a warrior of Indian military in Kittur, Princess Karnataka. During the time of Rani Chennamma, he was military commander of the Kingdom of Kittur. The audacious warrior Rayanna called his duty to free Kittur from Britain's motherland.
  • He also created a sense of nationalism in it and assembled a large military forces of 500 men. He also had several secret meetings and plans to rob the Taluk bureaus and the British treasury. The British assumed Rayanna was incited by Chennamma Rani Kittur & so Rani Chennamma was transferred from Bylahongla to Sangolli Rayanna Jail, in vain, before he won the guerrilla war in 1829. He wanted  Shivalingappa , who was adopted as ruler of Kittur, but Rayenna Sangolli was  captured and trapped
