why did the cattle stock of the massai decrease under colonial rule

The cattle stock of the maasai decrease under colonial rule because of division of Massai's land into British Kenya and German Tanzania . Due to which they lost most of their fertile land. Due to tax payment they have to sold their cattle and due to lack of pasture land cattle start dieing .
