After the formation of congress in1885, There were three stages,in the first stage Leaders of Congress put forward moderate demands on British.And the Confress was not successful. After the Surat Split of 1905, the Congress split into moderates and extremists on the basis that Moderates were not successful and the Radicals seceeded from the Party.The Radicals were popular as they uaed thes policiesswadeshi and boycott. But in the lahore session of 1916 both joined again as they thought united front can defeat British.
