why did the copper did not liberate hydrogen gas when reacted with dilute hydrochloric acid​

Zinc reacts with hydrochloric acid to liberate Hydrogen gas as it ismore reactive than Hydrogen and hence, displace it. Copper is less reactive when compared to Hydrogen and hence cannot displace it. The same can be understood by looking at the activity series of metals.

This is because copper is less reactive compared to hydroge. But if we use zinc it will worl sknce it is more reactive than hydrogen.
