The early man lived in caves because they were not developed and not knowing even that what are houses and huts. So, to protect themselves from wild animals, extreme rainfall, etc. They use to live in caves.

Earlier, the early mans had no shelter and they had to survive in different type of seasons like winter, summer, rainy. They can't live in the open. So they decided to live in the caves which protected them from animals, bad weather, heat, cold and other devastating conditions.
