The East India Company removed Mir Jaffer and Mir Qasim from the throne of Bengal because they had an independent spirit and thus refused to dance on the tunes of East India Company. They were tired of Company's interference and misuse of Dastak ( tax free trade licence) and thus turned against the Company which lead to their removal from the throne.

In the battle of Plassey 1757, Mir Jaffar helped British to defeat the Nawab of Bengal. So he was made the Nawab of Bengal. As he questioned the misuse of Dastak by the Company officials, he was removed and Mir Qasim was installed to the throne of Bengal. As the British again began to misuse Datak and interfere more and more in the affairs of Bengal, Mir Qasim turned against the Company. So both the armies faced in the battle of Buxar in 1763. Mir Qasim was defeated and Mir jaffar was restored to the throne of Bengal.
