They came for the trading purpose because they had this conception that India is a very rich country in terms of resources and having a trade and business relationship with such a country would be a great profit for the nation. However when they came and saw the condition of India not in terms of economy but in terms of mindsets they got this idea that they easily will be able to make the country fool and snatch all the territory and economy with ease.
