European trading companies set up trade centers in coastal areas because Europeans mainly wanted to export our goods to their countries and sell it at a higher price so this trading would be easy on sea.

 sea trade is very easy for them to transport our goods.

they find oceanic routes to different countries  to trade with them and earn huge profits.

they come to our by ships and establish their in coastal regions so it would be easy for them

They could easily buy spices, cotton textiles, indigo and Saltpetre at cheap rates from india and sell them in Europe and America at high the prices. Also in those days there were no other routes except water routes. Hence, the trading companies had no choice.
