Jon had helped a turtle, which was actually the fairyman, by placing it on his head and prevented it from getting hurt or die. In order to thank him, the fairyman asked Jon to ask for a wish that he can grant.
Jon, knowing his mother’s disapproval, did not ask. But Fairyman could read his mind and granted him the wind cap so that he could go sailing in the sea.
