The emperor of France governed like an autocrat and sustained a luxurious lifestyle. Besides this, he actively participated in the war. Therefore, to finance the war he raised the burden of the taxes on poor people particularly on the Third Estate. Moreover, to keep an army, running the administration and to meet its regular expenses the French government increase taxes. This increase in taxes became one of the causes of the revolution in France.
