Answer:

The growth of nationalism in the colonies linked with anti-colonial movements.

Explanation:

Every country in this world understood that anti-colonialism was the only way to get rid of an outer's rule on their land. Other than this they believed that these kind of anti-colonial movements increased the feel of patriotism or nationalism among the citizens of a nation.

Most of the countries that were once under the colonial rule used to be fragmented based on regions, languages and religions. Anti-colonial movements brought them a lot closer than ever. A single ideology of eradicating a foreign rule from their land held them together.

Hence the growth of nationalism in the colonies mostly linked with the anti-colonial movements.

India was one of the colonies of Britain, which was in the need of nationalism to gain freedom. This scenario can also be interpreted as an anti-colonial movement, since Indians were wanted the eradication of colonial rule from Britain. In India the Ali-Brothers started the Khilafat movement to influence the British Empire to protect Ottoman King, who was regarded as the leader of Muslim's world-wide. This movement soon won the support of Mahatma Gandhi and the Hindu Congress, for the cause of uniting India's two most populous religions, namely Hinduism and Islam. Therefore, the foreign ruler Ottoman King's struggle against anti-colonial rule from another kingdom, became closely connected with India's nationalist movement.
