The hunters of Halgali village were revolt because they refused to submit their weapons to the British.

Halgali was a small village in which most of the residents lived by hunting wild beasts, birds and selling forest products.

The East Indian company announced on 11th September 1857 that all Indians should submit their weapons but the hunters of Halgali village were refused to surrender their weapons such as axe, pick-axe, knife etc to the company. Thereafter British attack them so they revolt.
