The colonial government prevented people from entering the reserves forests. So most of them could not enter into the forest for collecting wood and charcoal. Even though, people often entered the forests secretly and collected wood, they could not sustain their occupation on this basis for so long. As many gave up their craft and looked for other means of livelihood.
