why did the Indus valley civilization come to be known as harappan civilization?

Harappa was one of the first Indus settlements discovered among a series of excavations. Kalibangan was the first city discovered of this civilisation. Due to the popularity of Harappa, the whole region got associated with it, hence the name Harappan civilisation.
