There are too many reasons and theories behind indus valley civilization
Look at some of this
any theories are suggested
the ruling elite called unicorns (because they used unicorn seals) were very cruel to the people living in the cities, so people started to move out of the cities and thus deurbanisation.
some suggest domestication and popularization of rice which meant ample food supply for one family so people started going to rural areas to make their own farm estate.
some suggest climate change (draughts) like mayans. the population started moving eastward towards ganges because of this. The evidences do suggest an eastward move from indus valley to the ganges, the last indus settlements are very near to the gangetic plains and infact a hoard of gold was recently discovered at the most eastward site indicating that wealth and population of indus valley was moving eastward. Since rice farming originated in gangetic plains and not indus, people who got acquainted with rice farming considered it unnecessary to make any urban settlements since there was plenty of land and food available in the rural area to discourage any urban settlement.
