Griffin, the invisible man chose Marvel as his helper for more than one reason. Both of them were considered outcastes in the society. As a tramp, Marvel had no home or family who actually cared about him. Moreover, both of them shared the same temperament.
Apart from the above mentioned reasons, Griffin realized that Marvel was a simpleton and could be made to do whatever the invisible man wanted by tempting, influencing or even threatening him if needed. In addition, Marvel had his own problems and was least interested in being inquisitive about Griffin.
