TEMPLES OF CHOLA DYNASTY :

Cholas were one of the most powerful rulers of South India during mediaeval period.

• Rulers like Karikala Chola, Raja Raja Chola, Rajendra Chola were the famous rulers of Chola dynasty.

• Cholas achieved many feats in their reign.

• As, their achievements were :

=> Good administration, establishing powerful empire, developing the South Indian Architecture etc.

• The people in Chola rule were so much interested in building and worshipping temples.

• As, the Chola architecture was Dravidian architecture.

• Cholas constructed many famous temples called as great chola temples.

• Some of them are Brihadeeswara temple in Tanjavur, Brihadiswara temple in Gangaikondacholisvaram, airateswara temple in Dasuram etc.

Brihadiswara of Tanjavur was world famous for its Gopuram, it was built by Raja Raja Chola.

These temples reflected the culture and traditions of South India and Dravidians.
