Why did the Mauryan Empire not increase in size after the battle of Kalinga?

Answer:

The Mauryan Empire did not increase in size after Kalinga war because the Ashoka saw the dead body, the martyr's family members where screeming and crying. King Ashoka saw them and felt were sad and then he told that I am not going to fight any wars from now on and dethroned him self.
