A small correction in ur question my dear friend,

Why did the monkey throw the squirrel away? how did this prove a blessing for the squirrel?

Ur answer is here : It was because the squirrel coming in the monkey's way and the squirrel throwing small pebbles and small stones was not helping much.

The monkeys then asked him to go back home but he would just not listen and kept on bringing pebbles from the shore and drop them into the sea.

One of the monkeys got angry and threw the squirrel away but instead of fall on the ground, it landed into Lord Rama's palms.

Lord Rama gave him a gift that no matter from what the squirrel falls, it will never get hurt and then he ran his fingers on it's back and from that very day the squirrel carries the lines on it's back, the traces of Lord Rama's fingers.

The squirrel was bringing small pebbles from the shore of the sea to help the monkeys build a bridge across the sea. The monkeys seeing this laughed and told the squirrel to stop because they thought that a bridge cannot be build up by such small pebbles. But the squirrel did not stop his work and started bringing small pebbles and dropped those in the sea. Out of anger, the monkeys threw the squirrel away.

However, this proved to be a blessing for the squirrel as the squirrel fell into the hands of Rama. Rama thanked the squirrel for his work in helping the monkeys. And when Rama put him down, 3 white stripes appeared over the back of the little squirrel.
