The storyteller watched the conduct of young woman and found it a bit strange. She was seeming as though she is from rich family since her fabrics were of brand, but the materials were not in great condition and she was consistently staring at the adornments kept in shop. So William Morris continued to watch her conduct and found it strange.

Answer:

The narrator observed the behaviour of young lady a bit strange. The woman had been standing in front of an undertakers shop staring at the display window. She had been standing there for about 15 to 20 minutes looking at those uninteresting things. The narrator made a fantasy that someone dear to her had died. But She was not wearing black or any other sign of mourning. she was,in fact, wearing a bright yellow coat with a vivid zig-zag pattern running all over it,and yellow sandals which felt narrator very strange.
