When the author went to the address her mother had given to her years ago, the woman who opened the door showed no signs of recognition even when she introduced herself as Mrs. S's daughter. The woman opened the door only a chink and was partially hidden behind it. This made the narrator doubt whether she had come to the right address or not

The narrator 'Marga Minco' in the story ' The Address' . She came to Mrs Dorling's house to recollect the belonging of her mother. No doubt they aroused nostalgic of former times. But she didn't long to possess them now. Their true owner was no more in the world. It was better to forgot them and the uncharitable Mrs Dorling. She also wanted to forgot the address which symbolised a tragic past.
