She wanted to forget the address, since the narrator found that the belongings of her mother were kept in strange conditions. The articles and objects had lost all their aura and emotional value for the narrator since they were placed in a different kind of an environment.

She wanted to move on and didn't wanted to look back. She believes that the memories of her mother are enough and she didn't need any material things to remember her.

The narrator 'Marga Minco' in the story ' The Address' . She came to Mrs Dorling's house to recollect the belonging of her mother. No doubt they aroused nostalgic of former times. But she didn't long to possess them now. Their true owner was no more in the world. It was better to forgot them and the uncharitable Mrs Dorling. She also wanted to forgot the address which symbolised a tragic past.
