In the short story ‘Ranga's Marriage’ by Marti Venkatesha Iyengar, the author humorously discusses Ranga's choice of marriage. Ranga was the son of an accountant. He had recently returned from Bangalore.

EXPLANATION:

He did not believe in the concept of arranged marriages where older men married very young girls. Ranga wanted to marry someone of his own age and taste. So when the narrator -Shyama wanted to make a matrimonial alliance he didn't approve it.

To get him to marry the beautiful young orphan girl Ratna, Shyama made a plan. He first made Ranga fall in love with her. To test his love he falsely informed Ranga that Ratna was married and minutely observed his reaction.
