Why did the narrator wanted to meet the woman in the control tower?did he got any information about the black aeroplane and its pilot?

The narrator wanted to meet the women in the control tower because he wanted to find out about his rescuer. He did not get any information of the black aeroplane and it's pilot. The women at the control tower claimed that no other aeroplane was present at that time along with the narrator's aeroplane.
