Answer:

The Bastille stood for the despotic power or autocratic rule of King Louis XVI. It was hated by all. This and a combination of other factors including rumours led to the demolition of The Bastille by the common people on 14 July 1798, also freeing the political prisoners who were held captive, though there were only 7 of them. The stone fragments of The Bastille were sold in markets to all those who wished to keep a souvenir of its destruction.

Bastille , the fortress prison was hated by all people of France because it stood for the Despotic powers of King Louis XVI. When the fortress was demolished and it stone ffragment were sold in the market to all those who whised to keep a souvenir of its destruction.

The war happened with Britain, Special privileges based on birth and the subsequent crisis lead to the storming of bastille on the morning of "14th July 1789".

The "bastille stone fragments" were sold or stored as a souvenir. It implies that as a reminder of this case, the Bastille fortress that was destroyed the pieces of stone that were sold in markets were held as souvenirs.
