In 1927 the British government appointed a commission to enquire into the working of the Govt. of India Act of 1919 and to suggest further reforms in the system of administration. This Commission is known as Simon Commission. After the name of sir John Simon who headed it. In this Commission there were seven members but all were British and not a single Indian. The government showed no indication of accepting the demand for Swaraj. On 3rd February 1928. When this Commission came to India people of India opposed it. All over the country the cry of Simon go back was raised.
