Why did the poet compare his snake to an albatross ?

because he also did a sin by throwing the wooden log at the snake , though it did not harm him ,so the poet compared to the snake,like the innocent Albert Ross was killed due to his madness ,same way snake was beaten due to his education

Answer: The poet compared the snake to an albatross because after he hit the snake with a log, he had the same guilt which the ancient mariner was having after he (mariner) killed the albatross. Hence, he compared the snake with the albatross.
