The poet despise himself for his mean and foolish act of trying to kill the snake. He afterward regrets and curse the voice of education that had always taught him to kill the snake, without any reason.

Because for him the snake was just as an honoured guest and he simply got ready in order to kill it.
He threw a log towards it to kill it.
This act was not desirable on his part, which he thought later.
