Explanation:

The revolt without a clear Leader

Such a leader was hard to emerge. ... Nana Sahib, through possessed some ability, 10 lacked military leadership. Other leaders such as Rani Lakshimi Bai, Kunwar Singh, and the Begum of Oudh were local leaders and lacked all- India standing. This led to the failure of the Revolt of 1857.

_________ANSWER_________

The revolt failed to gain momentum as many of the native Indian states, influenced by the example of powerful Hyderabad, did not join the rebels. It was mainly confined to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar and Central India. The Sikh soldiers of the Punjab area remained loyal to the British throughout. Bahadur Shah was neither a brave general, nor an astute leader of the people. But the most significant reason was the lack of a common programme and plan of action. Moreover, the people who led the Revolt lacked resources and a well-planned organisation.
