why did the revolt of 1857 fail? how did it affect the British policy in India.

The revolt 1857 fail because it cannot remove British from India.
   Due to the revolt 1857 east India company was closed and British parliament take over India.......

  The efforts were not well coordinated. And then there were opportunist Kings and Nawabs in great numbers who watched the show from sidelines waiting to take sides depending on who was winning. And quite a few accepted bribes and favours from British and changed side after committing themselves to mutiny. Also, the mutiny was prematurely started, before all the preparations were complete, by a section of soldiers led by Mangal Pandey. Militarily East India Company soldiers were better equipped and had shown better discipline as against locals.
