(i) Rich peasants communities like Patidar of Gujarat and Jatt of Uttar Pradesh.

(ii) Being producers of cash crop,they were very hard hit by the trade depression and falling prices.

(iii) As their cash income disappeared they found it impossible to pay the government revenue demand and the refusal of the government to reduce the revenue demand led to widespread resentment.

(iv) Due to this research rich present become enthusiastic supporters of the civil disobedience.
