Why did the salt make the water more conductive to electricity?

this is because salts have ions in it which is NaCl on mixing it up with water it react and forms a metal Na+ and halogen Cl- which conduct electricity

salt consist of sodium and chlorine ions .The water not only breaks sodium chloride into sodium and chlorine ion but also separate this iron
